Archaeal and bacterial species enriched from Estonian graptolite argillite with various cultivation media

The aim of this study was to enrich an organic matter degrading and possibly methane generating community from Estonian graptolite argillite. As a result, in anaerobic process, a syntrophic consortium of heterotrophic neutrophilic bacteria and methanogenic archaea was formed. The archaeal r-RNA sequences are described.
