Lactiplantibacillus plantarum from healthy adult feces functions as a natural defense against microplastic toxicity

Emerging evidence highlights the detrimental health impacts of microplastics (MPs) exposure, with the gut microbiota playing a critical role in modulating these effects. However, effective approach to mitigate MPs toxicity based on gut microbiome changes has not yet been developed. Here, a cross-sectional study involving 138 individuals revealed a correlation between fecal MPs and gut microbiota.
