Eastern South Pacific Oxygen Minimum Zone Metagenome. marine metagenome

In this study were analyzed the assembled genome fragments of a planktonic γ-proteobacteria, associated with the SUP05/ARCTIC96BD-19 lineage, recovered from a metagenome analysis of the seasonal oxygen-deficient waters over the continental shelf off central Chile in the eastern South Pacific (ESP-GSO). Comparative analyses with respect to gene content, similarity and synteny were performed to understand the similarities and differences of this group to compared to SUP05 representatives reported from the Saanich Inlet and Guaymas Basin, and to ARCTIC96BD-19 representatives reported from South Atlantic Sub-Tropical Gyre. Our analyses suggested that the genomes of the ESP-GSO ecotypes encode genes for different metabolic capabilities, than have been reported for their close relatives from Saanich Inlet and Guaymas Basin.
