Global deep soil warming experiment soil temperature and moisture data from the Soil Warming to Depth Data Integration Effort

Version 1.0.0 of the Soil Warming to Depth Data Integration Effort (SWEDDIE) database containing soil moisture and temperature time series data resolved by depth. Data were collected at 23 deep soil warming and global change experiments located around the globe. See the github repository for the companion R package sweddie, (reference below) for more information about SWEDDIE and for simple tools to compile the data. Data are provided as simple CSV tables of soil temperature or volumetric soil moisture for each experiment. All warming or other imposed treatments are noted in the plot table of the associated experiment. Experimental infrastructure is detailed in the 'experiment' table, while environmental characteristics and geospatial coordinates of the experimental site/s are in the 'site' table. The 'site' and 'plot' tables are linked to the 'experiment' table by the primary key "exp_name", and all data tables are linked to the plot table by unique "plt_name" keys. Each (soil temperature or moisture) data table has an associated data dictionary table that describes the data. Each experiment has an additional file level metadata (FLMD) table which provides further metadata about each data table including: data variable (i.e., soil temperature or soil moisture), data contributor, date range covered, missing values used, etc.
