资源简介:
This experiment took place on October 1, 2015 from 3:00-4:40pm in Danby woodlot and grassland, York University Keele campus. The temperature was 15 °C, sunny (non-blinding light to observe birds) with wind speed around 18-19 miles per hour.
The purpose of this experiment was to collect data of birds flying or on branches near the belt transect which was 20 meters long. In this experiment there were 10 transect line, 5 were laid randomly in the grassland while the other 5 were laid in the woodlot. A member of the group would walk along the transect line which took a total of 10 minutes and spot birds (looked at birds with our eyes) that were flying above or on the branches (woodlot only). Once the birds were spotted the common name of the bird was written down (looked in a bird identification guide), counted the number of birds seen (abundance), estimated the distance the bird was away from the transect line in meters and the wind speed when the bird was spotted (checked on the weather network website when bird was spotted). The equipment used was the transect line measuring tape. The geese were spotted at the edge of the woodlot which is near a parking lot. The sample size was 16.
The group members of group 4 including myself were Simranjit Kang, Ava Kamali and Katrin Chapkis
