Advanced Capital Regulation Index

This dataset measures bank capital regulation stringency in 29 Asia countries. The data is manually collected from letters of law available on related national regulators' websites during 2000-2016, using the list of questions provided. The questions are constructed to cover Basel III requirements in terms of: (i) Capital definition; (ii) Risk coverage; (iii) Supplement Requirements; (iv) Supervisory Power; and (v) Market discipline.

The data can be used as a proxy for capital regulation stringency. Currently, the data has been collected for Asia countries. The dataset can be later update for addition requirements of Basel standards in the future (if any) and expanded to cover other countries in America, Europe, Africa, etc.
