Coexistence of Pinus mugo and Fagus sylvatica in the national park Gesäuse

This thesis investigates whether there can be a permanent coexistence between P. mugo, a pioneer tree species, and Fagus sylvatica, a deciduous tree dominant in Central Europe, and what factors make them possible. Data were collected in a forest, consisting of the main wood species P. mugo and F. sylvatica, in a water catchment area in the Gesäuse National Park.
