Antibiotic resistance is a significant issue for public health, but the overall distribution of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in the human gut microbiome remains poorly understood. We performed a case-control study to investigate the influence of antibiotic use on the resistome of the human intestinal microbiome. Fecal samples were collected from individuals who had and had not undergone antibiotic treatment in the last 6 months, and metagenomic DNA was extracted for high-throughput sequencing. A customized bioinformatics analysis pipeline was designed to analyze the sequences and identify ARGs.
