资源简介:
Western Australia state raster (grid) coverage's of magnetic, radiometric and gravity data compiled from numerous individual survey datasets held in the DMP data repository. Western Australia is at 2,529,875Kms in size. The 40m-resolution magnetic and 80m-resolution radiometric grid compilations of WA are understood to be currently the highest resolution coverage's of these data types over such a large contiguous area that are publicly available anywhere in the world. "These compilation geophysical datasets along with other geoscientific datasets generated by the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA); a division within the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP). The data are used by University and government researchers to support their work on understanding and describing the geology and the mineral and petroleum resources of WA. They are provided as 'information infrastructure' to support the design of resource exploration programs, and for optimising agricultural land use. GSWA datasets are also critical inputs in aspects of Government decision-making, particularly on economic and land use issues. The following projects are specific examples of the current research that the magnetic datasets currently support: • http://www.cet.edu.au/research-projects/geophysics-and-image-analysis/projects/geophysical-studies-of-mineralised-terrains-in-western-australia • http://www.cet.edu.au/research-projects/geophysics-and-image-analysis The 80-m-resolution of the radiometric dataset is of a fine-grained standard to be able to be used for agricultural research. For example, research on the nature and distribution of soils as well as how soli impacts (and is impacted) by farming, forestry and other land uses. Specific examples include: • Application of radiometric for land capability assessment; http://www.regional.org.au/au/gia/06/185hazell.htm; • Gamma Ray Sensing for Cadmium Risk Assessment in Agricultural Soil and Grain: A Case Study in Southern Sweden; http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-90-481-8859-8_28# The data are suitable for use by any geological or land use researchers in Australia or overseas, including mineral and petroleum exploration companies and water and agricultural resource management groups.
