Genome assembly of Beauveria bassiana neotropical isolates

This study aimed the sampling of eight B. basiana neotropical isolates as first insight into its biodiversity. The isolates are part of a collection of entomopathogenic fungi; therefore their characterization enables to recognize their potential use as biocontrol agents for agricultural purposes or for enzyme/metabolite production. We sequenced and assembly their genomes and identified putative coding genes, as well as secreted proteins with interest in those with pathogenisis-related functions. Besides, comparisons of several genomes, from different regions, may help to further understand life cycle of not only the species B. bassiana, but rather to uncover the common themes on life styles of fungi in the family Cordycipitaceae.
