Junco hyemalis Transcriptome

From one adult male and one adult female dark-eyed junco (Junco hyemalis carolinensis), we extracted RNA from 14 tissues (whole brain, gonad, liver, pectoralis muscle, syrinx, beak, eye, gizzard, heart, kidney, lung, preen gland, skin, and tongue). We then sequenced a normalized library from each individual (all tissues pooled) using Roche/454 pyrosequencing. This sequencing effort adds to the growing store of genomic-level data available for ecological-model species that have historically lacked genomic tools.
