PoliWAM

PoliWAM is a large-scale political discussion dataset co-created by the Research Department of Tata Consultancy Services and Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. The dataset contains 223,404 messages from 281 WhatsApp groups spanning the period before and after the 2019 Indian General Election, covering all major Indian political parties and their leaders. The development of the PoliWAM dataset involved manual screening of groups to ensure data relevance and quality. The PoliWAM dataset is primarily used for research on political propaganda and information dissemination on WhatsApp, particularly their impacts during election periods.
