This dataset identifies the areas subject to the Department’s operation and maintenance obligations on behalf of the state per the California Water Code: Division 5 (State Flood Control), Chapter 3 (Maintenance and Operation at Sacramento River Flood Control Project); Article 2 (Powers and Duties of Department of Water Resources), Section 8361 [CA Water Code § 8361 (2023)]. All flood control structures and channel limits have been approximated using aerial imagery. The associated data are considered DWR enterprise GIS data, which meet all appropriate requirements of the DWR Spatial Data Standards, specifically the DWR Spatial Data Standard version 3.6, dated September 27, 2023.
