资源简介:
Wet deposition (dissolved + particulate) is a poorly understood yet potentially significant pathway for dust input to ecosystems. We quantified wet dust deposition to two National Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring (NADP) sitesâ â one arid, Guadalupe Mountains (TX22); one humid, Gulf coastal prairie (TX10). The focal year was 2012, during one of Texasâ s most severe droughts since 1895. A time series of 2012 dust events was constructed for each site using multiple sources. Dust event records coupled with visual observations of sample filters, meteorological data, and NOAAâ s Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) were used to determine the number of dust-in-rain events at each site. Bulk elemental composition of washout particles on NADP sample filters was analyzed using Proton Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE) analysis. We calculated the proportion of annual wet dissolved and particulate deposition occurring during weeks affected by dust-in-rain and all other weeks (background samples).
