Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio Database Access and Analysis

Frequency-dependent horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios (HVSR) of Fourier amplitudes from three-component recordings can provide information on one or more site resonant frequencies and relative levels of amplification at those frequencies. Such information is potentially useful for predicting site amplification. We have generated a public repository of HVSR site data. As of March 2021, the database consists of 1725 HVSR measurements at 1303 sites worldwide. This tool provided here interacts with the data to perform two operations that are anticipated to be useful for research of site response effects in which HVSR is used for site characterization: 1) identify if a site has HVSR peaks; and 2) for sites where peaks are present, establish attributes of the peaks such as peak frequency and amplitude. The tool consists of a Jupyter Notebook and an R script, which implement procedures described in a companion report.
