Matchsticks Image Dataset for Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision Applications This dataset comprises a collection of high-resolution color images of matchsticks, designed to help research in artificial intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision (CS). Captured using a full-frame mirrorless camera, the images feature matchsticks on a neutral black background, with no post-processing applied. The dataset is provided in JPEG format, directly as captured. It is organized into two distinct sets, each addressing specific research needs. Dataset Contents Set 1: Single Matchstick Configurations (298 images): - This set features a single type of matchstick arranged in both regular and random patterns. - Quantities range from 1 to 50 matchsticks per image, with approximately 20 or 30 images per quantity (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50). - Includes 14 reference images with highly regular patterns, 2 images with a ruler for scale reference, and 2 background images without foreground elements. Set 2: Dual Matchstick Configurations (307 images): - This set features two sizes of matchsticks: long (~ 5cm) and short (~ 4cm). It is further divided into two sub-subsets: + Subset 2.1: Pairs of long and short matchsticks (1 to 25 pairs per image) arranged randomly, with approximately half of the images featuring overlapping matchsticks. + Subset 2.2: Ten (10) long matchsticks combined with 1 to 10 short matchsticks, arranged randomly with overlapping, with some reference images containing regular patterns. - Includes 7 scale and background reference images. Dataset Distribution The complete dataset is distributed as follows: - File 1: Detailed dataset description and photographic technical specifications (PDF). - Files 2-4: Sample images (JPEG). - File 5: Set 1 (ZIP). - File 6: Set 2 (ZIP). - File 7: Spreadsheet containing detailed file information and photographic parameters (ODS).
