POLYSEMY AND SYNONYMY IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH RELIEF TERMINOLOGY

This article presents a comparative analysis of polysemy and synonymy in Uzbek and English relief terminology. The study applies semantic and cognitive approaches to examine how lexical units develop multiple meanings and synonymic relations. It demonstrates that relief terms in both languages are shaped by human perception of the environment and cultural experience. The findings reveal both universal semantic patterns and language-specific features influenced by geographical and cultural contexts.
