Whole genome shotgun sequencing of clinical ExPEC strains

Whole genome shotgun sequencing of clinical ExPEC strains from Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center in Merced, CA. Clinical strains were chosen for sequencing based on their susceptibility to third generation cephalosporins. Both resistant and sensitive strains were included in the set of strains for sequencing. The resulting draft genomes were used for conducting genotype-resistance association studies (marker discovery and resistance prediction), and for studying how multi-drug resistance plasmids evolve.
