The five representative real-world data center workloads to generate the test traffic: Web Search (WS) and Data Mining (DM) from Microsoft, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) from Google, Handoop (HDP) from Meta, and Cloud Storage (STR) from Alibaba. The characteristics of the workloads are shown in this figure. The five workloads are all heavy-tailed, with the top 5% of flows accounting for 46.1%, 97.9%, 90.7%, 81.8%, and 77.1% of the total traffic for WS, DM, RPC, HDP, and STR, respectively.
