The invention relates to a method for treating a fiber-containing material， preferably hay or straw， with a dust binding agent， the method comprising the steps: - Providing a fiber-containing material having dust particles; - loosening of the fibrous material; and - Spraying a dust binding agent， which has an aqueous film-forming agent， onto the fibrous material， the dust binding agent being atomized into droplets and dust particles being bound to fibers of the fibrous material and / or cluster formation of the dust particles being promoted. A corresponding device is also described.
