Metagenomic Characterization of Gut Microbiota in Individuals with Low Cardiovascular Risk

Cardiovascular diseases continue to be the primary cause of death worldwide, with growing evidence suggesting the gut microbiome plays a significant role. Our research sought to identify differences in gut microbial communities and their metabolic functions between individuals with low cardiovascular risk (LCR) and healthy controls, potentially uncovering early microbiome alterations associated with disease development. We conducted shotgun metagenomic analysis of stool samples collected from 25 LCR participants and 25 matched healthy controls, all of whom underwent thorough cardiovascular assessment.
