Sepsis remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among children worldwide, particularly in neonates and young children. It is defined as a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Despite advances in pediatric intensive care, early diagnosis and effective monitoring of disease progression continue to be major challenges in the management of pediatric sepsis.
