In this study, we used a long-term cover cropping experiment with sandy loam soil, under a temperate humid climate. Our previous studies found that SOC stock (0–15 cm depth) was approximately 11–22% greater with than without cover cropping, in 2015 (Chahal et al. 2020). This intrigued us to explore deep soil C and N stores (0–120 cm depth). We also used their distributions between POM and MAOM pools(0–90 cm depth) to better understand the potential mechanisms of C and N storage under long-term cover cropping.
