Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative bacterium and an opportunistic pathogen. P. aeruginosa PAK has been a commonly used model strain for studying numerous aspects of bacterial physiology and pathogenesis. The whole genome of P. aeruginosa PAK has been sequenced with 454 pyrosequencing using genomic DNA to make 3 kb mate paired libraries. The genome has been assembled into 9 scaffolds that have been oriented using P. aeruginosa PAO1 as a reference. Gene annotations will be included.
