Content Analysis of Public Health Communications during Extreme Heat Events in the Pacific Northwest

This project assesses patterns, differences, and gaps in frequency and content of web- and social-media-based risk communications during extreme heat events in four urban areas in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). We collected heat-related communications from social media and website platforms that were issued in 2023 by relevant city and county government agencies, and regional National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Offices (WFO), across four urban areas in the PNW. We reviewed and coded observations to assess major themes and discrepancies in communications. This dataset includes all heat-related communications considered in our study.
