Assessing the effects of four two-component system response regulator knockouts in E. coli

Escherichia coli use two-component systems (TCSs) to respond to environmental signals. TCSs affect gene expression and are parts of E. coli's global transcriptional regulatory network (TRN). Here, we profiled the effects of knockout of 4 TCS regulators: atoC, btsR, cusR, and rcsB. These knockouts were grown in the presence of their typical effector molecules to enable comparison to the intact response of the WT system (K-12 MG1655). Overall design: Growth of E. coli was performed with biological duplicates. Total RNA was extracted from mid-log phase culture for RNA-Seq library preparation. Cells were grown at 37C at pH 7.
