VPRS 3700 Register of Deposits on Lands Selected, Section 42 Land Act 1862, Daylesford District

Section 42 of the Land Act 1862 provided that lands unsold at a public auction could subsequently be applied for and sold if the price offered was the existing upset price (the minimum acceptable) or a higher price. This succeeded the same provision in regulations made in March 1843 and amended in 1854 (see VPRS 86).This series registers the deposits made on lands selected after auction in the parish of Wombat. Details given are the date of the payment, the county and parish, the date of the sale and the number of the sale proclamation, the name of the applicant, the section and allotment of the land and its area, the per acre price and the total of the purchase money.
