Inventory of French peatlands and their carbon stocks

This database provides information on the location, surface, peat volumes, and carbon stocks of French peatlands (mainland France only).

The inventory includes data collected from various stakeholders working on French peatlands (Conservatoires d'Espaces Naturels, regional and national nature parks, watershed management structures, local authorities, universities, etc.) and data acquired in the field by the University Marie and Louis Pasteur. The authors would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the creation of this database. All contributors are listed in the dataset.

Estimates of peat volumes and carbon stocks were made using data on peat thickness, carbon content, and bulk density from three other databases also available on request from Dat@UBFC.
