The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress caused by Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection on the mRNA expression profile in human hepatocytes. Comparative gene expression analysis was performed using the cultured human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line Huh7.5.1. The cells were treated with 1 μg/mL tunicamycin for 48 hours to induce ER stress or infected with HCVcc (cell culture-derived HCV) for 48 or 72 hours. Gene expression was analyzed using 3D-Gene® Human 25k oligonucleotide microarrays, along with computational gene expression analysis tools to interpret the results.
