Taxa with effect size difference between 1 and −1 were filtered out to reduce biases due to false positives. Differential abundances of bacterial genera were tested by the Welch t test (as more restrictive than the Wilcoxon rank‐sum test also available in ALDEx2) followed by FDR correction (Benjamini & Hochberg, 1995).
