Development and In Vitro Evaluation of Gold NanoclusterBased EGFR-Targeted Radionuclide Theranostics

Breast cancer can vary greatly between patients and even between tumours in the same person, making treatment difficult. This research developed tiny gold-based particles designed to carry a radioactive metal and attach to a cancer-related cell marker called EGFR. The particles were built, tested for stability, and compared in breast cancer cells with and without the targeting antibody. The targeted particles held the radioactive label well for three days and attached more strongly to cancer cells than untargeted particles. The findings show a promising early step toward more precise radioactive approaches for detecting and treating breast cancer, with testing ongoing.
