Dataset for "Framework for Mapping Sublimation Features on Mars' South Polar Cap Using Object-Based Image Analysis"

This dataset supports a study on the growth of CO₂ sublimation pits—known as Swiss Cheese Features (SCFs)—on Mars’ South Polar Residual Cap. Using HiRISE imagery spanning five Martian years, we applied Object-Based Image Analysis (OBIA) in eCognition to detect and measure pit area changes over time. The resulting shapefiles and rulesets enable scalable, semi-automated mapping of SCFs and provide new insight into their formation timeline and ongoing evolution. All data are georeferenced to Mars Polar Stereographic (South) using Mars 2000 Sphere parameters.
