资源简介:
The purpose of the temperature dataset is to show how hot the Earth at a depth of 5000m below sea level beneath Ireland with associated uncertainty.
The Earth’s natural heat can be used as a source of renewable energy called geothermal energy. Geothermal energy can be used to heat homes and offices. Sometimes geothermal energy can be used to make electricity. Geothermal energy is always available. It will still produce clean energy when the wind isn’t blowing, and the sun isn’t shining. It also uses a small amount of land. Geothermal energy is a very secure and low carbon energy source.
How much heat or electricity you can get from geothermal energy depends on how hot the rocks beneath the ground are. The temperature of the bedrock changes with depth and depends on what part of the country you are in. The purpose of this data is to show where the rocks beneath the surface are hotter or colder at a certain depth. Where temperatures are higher, more geothermal energy can be produced. This data will help the development of geothermal energy projects in Ireland.
