The objective of this study was to evaluate the CO2 emission and carbon sequestration under the platform (2×4) wooden construction buildings in Taiwan. A total 18 platform (2×4) wooden construction buildings were selected for calculating the CO2 emission, which generated from construction materials’ energy consumption. The results indicated that the usage of wood materials in per unit construction area was 0.2083 m3/m2 ; the CO2 emission in per unit construction area were 75.67 kg/m2. By comparing the wooden construction to reinforced concrete (RC) and steel prefabricated (S) construction, the CO2 emission reduction of the wooden construction can reach 362.38 kg/ m2 and 313.21 kg/m2, respectively. The results clearly proved the 2×4 wooden construction buildings have significances in CO2 reduction and carbon storage.
