Mapping and sampling the metasedimentary rocks of the Koettlitz Group, the Olympus granite gneiss and other basement rocks of the Lower Wright Valley

Three main lithologic suites were mapped in the basement rocks of the Lower Wright Valley, including amphibolite facies metasediments of the Koettlitz Group, a syn-tectonic microcline amphibole granitoid and a post tectonic porphyritic granite. The detailed mapping had a particular emphasis on the relationship between the metasedimentary rocks of the Koettlitz Group and the Olympus granite gneiss. Mapping and samples were carried out chiefly in the Mt Loke, Denton Glacier and the ridges of the Lower Wright Valley.
