The contribution of supernovae (SNe) to the galactic dust budget remains an open question. Until recently, infrared observations of SNe revealed lower-than-expected dust masses, with the notable exception of SN 1987A. Now, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) provides the sensitivity and wavelength range coverage needed to search for colder dust reservoirs in SNe. Here we present JWST observations of SN 1983V, a Type Ic SN that exploded ~40 years ago in NGC 1365. We fit a dust model to the resulting SED and estimate a total dust mass of 0.01 solar masses.
