Data from: How Chinese inventions fuel U.S. innovation
收藏资源简介:
This repository contains data files and code used to construct the analytical materials for an archival study of cross-border knowledge flows between China and the United States from 2000 to 2025. The data were assembled to examine four related empirical tasks: (1) measuring the changing geographic composition of backward patent citations made by U.S. patents, (2) relating foreign patent citations to subsequent U.S. patent value, (3) characterizing the institutional and technological composition of Chinese patents cited by U.S. patents, and (4) examining whether global supply chain linkages are associated with cross-border knowledge sourcing. The underlying inputs were drawn from patent and citation records maintained by USPTO/PatentsView, Chinese patent records from CNIPA, and, in the full study, firm-level and supply-chain data accessed through licensed databases. The submission includes code and selected non-restricted analytical files needed to document data construction and reproduce the shared descriptive and empirical outputs.
