Background: PrevenTell, launched by ANOVA (Karolinska University Hospital) in 2012, targets individuals at risk of committing sexual offences. Aim: To identify future directions for PrevenTell. Methods: Interviews with helpline users were analyzed to identify areas of development. Results: Data on help-line users (n = 1573) showed that 92% were men and the median age was 36 years. Almost 70% reported a pattern of compulsive sexual behavior and more than half of the sample reported at least one paraphilic interest. There was a high co-occurrence of paraphilias and compulsive sexual behaviors. The incidence of life-time self-reported mental health problems was 54%, and 25% reported ongoing suicidal thoughts. Conclusion and ongoing projects: Future directions for PrevenTell are to: (i) reach younger individuals, (ii) raise awareness about risk factors for sexual violence among health care professionals, and (iii) learn more about partners and parents needs for professional support. Ongoing projects include: 1) an addition of a chat function in order to reach younger individuals, 2) a web-based interactive education program for healthcare professionals that aim to aid identification of clinical conditions that constitute a risk for committing sexual violence, and 3) a qualitative interview study exploring how partners and parents to help-seeking men with sexual interest in children describe their need for health care services. unknown unknown
