This series was used by the Ballarat Supreme Court to record information about the execution of writs to ensure the payment of civil judgements. The writs enable the Sheriff's to seize assets belonging to one party and sell them to ensure payment.Details recorded include the name of person against whom issued, at whose suit the writ was issued, the date and nature of execution (usually a writ know as a Fi.Fa), under what proceedings issued (most frequently a default judgement) and the amount of levy or bail.
