Hyoscyamus muticus Genome sequencing and assembly

The Egyptian henbane (H. muticus) a sister species to the white henbane (H. albus) of the family Solanaceae, yield three medicinal alkaloids -atropine, hyoscyamine, and scopolamine- that can be purified for use in pharmaceuticals. The plants also are sometimes used in herbal and folk medicine. The leaves are used in illicit preparations of smoking mixtures and, in India, as a beverage. The plant can be fatal if eaten. The project aims to assembly its nuclear and extranuclear genomes. The sample was found on the Nasser Lake banks in a semi-annual surviving strategy competing with the dissection and high UV exposure.
