"Accompaniment in the Curatorial: Four Textures of Practice" investigates how accompaniment, a practice rooted in Latin American liberation theology, feminist practice and everyday life, is relevant and generative to the curatorial. The enquiry articulates a practice-grounded theoretical framework called "texture-oriented practice” structured around four key textures: dynamic repetition, minor movements, ghost knots, and weaving holes. Developed through a curatorial project called sala de lectura in Lima, Peru, texture-oriented practice positions accompaniment alongside outcome-oriented curatorial work, offering conceptual tools for apprehending its ethical and imaginative possibilities.
