This dataset contains the raw and processed data supporting the study of nitrogen-engineered MoS₂ quantum dots (N–MoS₂ QDs) with enhanced photoluminescence and structural stability.The dataset includes photoluminescence (PL) spectra, UV–vis absorption data, and quantum yield (PLQY) calculations, demonstrating the improved fluorescence performance induced by controlled nitrogen doping. Structural characterization data, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), are provided to confirm nitrogen incorporation and elucidate the modulation of surface electronic structure and defect passivation.In addition, fluorescence response data toward Fe³⁺ ions are included, showing high sensitivity and selectivity with a low detection limit. Supporting data for real sample analysis in tap water and lake water, including recovery and relative standard deviation (RSD), are also provided.All data are supplied in standard formats (CSV, TXT, XLSX) with clear annotations. A README file is included to describe the dataset structure, variable definitions, and experimental conditions.These data support the reproducibility of the results and the conclusions presented in the associated publication submitted to Journal of Materials Chemistry C.
