This essay aims to retrace the historical and cultural evolution of Albanian wind bands between the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighting their role in national identity formation, public festivities, and musical education. Particular attention is given to the relationship with Italian musical models, the repertoire performed, and the institutional support that allowed the development of these ensembles. Through archival documents and oral testimonies, this contribution offers a new perspective on a little-studied but significant aspect of Albanian musical life.
