Transcriptome analysis of Melocactus glaucescens (Cactaceae)

Melocactus glaucescens is an endangered species of cactus that is highly valued in the ornamental trade. In vitro shoot production of this species provides a sustainable alternative to overharvesting from the wild. In vitro propagation could be further improved by the availability of transcriptome data to understand molecular genetic regulation during developmental processes.
