资源简介:
Research Background This work investigates the significance of the white cube, through installation and performance to create an environmental super fiction. The exhibition is sponsored by the fictional Diamante Engineering Head office, and included Hancock Recording Studio in the Stonehenge Music Venue. Peter Ellis in collaboration with Dr. Phil Edwards under the name of AND were commissioned to perform an extended sonic work in front of a live audience. Phil Edwards and Peter Ellis have produced over 20 CD recordings since 1999. Dr. Phil Edwards invented the concept of AND to encompass sonic works produced by visual artists in the early 1990's. Research Significance Rearview is an established Artist's Run Initiative. It has a board of 3 directors who peer review all exhibitions and artists. This group exhibition was curated by Oscar Perry and focuses on contemporary installation practice that is subversive through the questioning of the gallery space. The white cube of the gallery was transformed into a replica of a 1980's hotel, with a performance stage, bar and decorated with band posters and memorabilia and objects on the theme of Stonehenge. Research Contribution The Stonehenge exhibition featured a live sonic performance of music by AND consisting of myself on keyboards and Peter Ellis on electric guitar and drum machine. The work was recorded and published with artwork in an 11 track, compact disk, titled 11.11.11. Stonehenge. Posters and memorabilia and the AND Discography by Ellis and Edwards were exhibited in the environment. In particular the keyboard playing by myself sought to experiment how accepted historical cliches in musical rthymns act allegorically to reference theoretical art historical periods in time and how these may be redefined thru the deliberate act of anarchic sonic interventions and performance by visual artists.
