The transcriptomes of Spongospora subterranea infected Solanum tuberosum and Plasmodiophora brassicae infected Brassica rapa cells were examined. The study had two aims. The first was to identify plasmodiophorid genes for a phylogenomic study of the rhizaria. The second aim was to examine the molecular interaction between the host and pathogen.
