Gut microbiome alterations in Chronic Heart Failure rats

Chronic heart failure is a long-term condition that can stabilize, worsen, or lead to decompensation. The gut microbiota functions as an endocrine organ, generating bioactive compounds and metabolites, including bile acid, short-chain fatty acids, and trimethylamine oxide. In chronic heart failure, gut microbiome dysbiosis facilitates bacterial translocation, endotoxemia, and the cascade of pro-inflammatory mediators, which triggers systemic inflammation. We analyzed the gut microbiome in chronic heart failure rats.
