Hoxsey, an early exhibition aviator for the Wright team, is shown here in bust at approximately three-quarters profile. He is dressed in the thick wool, leather and fur of an aviator's jacket and cap and wears a pair of goggles on his forehead over the cap. He wears glasses and is smiling intently, slightly bucktoothed. He is facing left. One of many constantly trying to outdo eachother, Hoxsey died while trying to set an altitude record at the meet. Hoxsey made the first world record flight of 11,474 feet.
