We are working with toads of the genus Atelopus. Those toads are endemic from the Neotropics, located mostly in tropical forests and highlands along Central and South America. I´m located in the Amazonian lowlands of Ecuador, near to four hours from the capital city, Quito. Our aim is to sequence the genome of the toad Atelopus bomolochos This species is known from the highlands of southwestern Andes of Ecuador. This species has been registered from scattered localities, reaching four thousand meters above sea level in the páramos habitat. Specimens are commonly found during the day under rocks or in vegetation nearby to streams and lagoons, where their reproduction takes place.
