Sand and water samples will be collected along the Mississippi Gulf coast starting January 2024 and ending on June 2025. The DNA will be extracted from sand and water samples, and the 16S rRNA gene will be sequenced at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Data will include alpha and beta diversity metrics along with metadata to describe the collection site, coordinates, and date of collection.
